EFT Tapping: My Favorite way to Reset the Nervous System

Whenever my mind starts spiraling or my body feels tight, tapping is the quickest way for me to bring myself back down. It’s simple, it’s grounding, and it just helps me feel like… okay, I can keep going.

You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t have to “do it right.”

Tapping basically sends your nervous system a calm little message like,

“Hey, you’re safe. You can chill.”

And honestly, for someone with anxiety I need that. Your breath gets deeper, your shoulders drop, and your brain stops running a marathon.

How I Do It (And How You Can Try It Too)

Here’s the simplest way to tap, the way I teach it and the way I actually use it when I’m overwhelmed:

  1. Start on the side of your hand. (Like a karate chop)

Gently tap and say something like,

“Even though I feel all this stress, I’m here, I’m safe, and I can breathe.”

  2. Move through the points - eyebrow, temple area, under eye, upper lip under your nose, chin, collarbone, under arm, top of head.

No pressure, no perfection. Just light steady tapping.

  3. Talk through what you’re feeling.

“This anxiety… this tension… this heaviness in my chest…”

Say whatever’s true for you. Whatever is going on. Talk through it.

  4. Shift into something softer when you feel ready.

    Something like,

“I’m allowed to feel calm. My body knows how to relax. I don’t have to hold everything today.”

And just keep tapping until your energy settles and you feel that little drop inside your body where everything unclenches.

There’s no magic number. You just stop when you feel like you’ve actually come back to yourself.
